Description
Estimated Price: £75,000 - £85,000
A spin-off from the Clio Trophy race series and first previewed at the Paris Motor Show in 1998, the Clio V6 230 was in many ways the spiritual successor to the mid-engined 5 Turbo. Launched in 2001, the wide-hipped, mid-engined ‘baby supercar' was broadly based on the Clio Mk2 but the V6 variant actually shared very little with its standard counterpart. Where the rear seats would normally be nestled a tweaked version of the proven and unstressed 3-litre, 24v, V6 unit from the Laguna saloon offering access to 227bhp (230PS) fed to the rear wheels and enabling 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and 146mph, not for the faint-hearted in such a diminutive ‘rocket ship’. The Phase 1 cars were assembled by hand at the Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) workshops in Uddevalla in Sweden, using parts shipped from France, producing just 1,513 examples between 2001 and 2003.
First registered on the 23rd July 2002 in Illiad Blue this remarkably low-mileage Phase I car has been serviced at the following intervals:
- Renault Cardiff at 2,018 miles on 30/11/2017
- Renault Cardiff at 2,096 miles on 15/02/2019
- Renault Cardiff at 2,100 miles on 11/09/2020
- Renault Swansea at 2,436 miles on 03/09/2025
It's presented to auction with both keys and a history file which includes the following: Original Renault wallet, pen and dealer card, Renault owners handbook, stamped service guide, Vehicle Security System Certificate and handbook, Renault driver pamphlet, Dealer sales brochure and colour chart, Renault built-in protection pamphlet / Security Register, Radio handbook, original Renault purchase letter and customer service questionnaire, Renault RAC Trackstar pack, Renault Accident Management pack, its V5C, previous MOT Certificates and historic maintenance invoices.
This is a fine example of what was once dubbed 'The World’s Smallest Supercar' by EVO magazine and undoubtedly a rare opportunity.
