The Porsche 914, misunderstood for many years, is becoming something of a true cult Porsche. This is a 1976 Porsche 914 fitted with a powerful 2.0 engine. We sourced it in the States, specifically the warm state of California. Since 2017 the car has been in the Netherlands and has been lavished with all the respect a real Porsche rightly deserves. Thanks to the exceptionally warm and dry climatic Californian conditions this car is still as original as they come. Inspection underneath the car shows no signs of accidental damage and remains very sound. It has been re-sprayed in the original colour due to cosmetic reasons only. This was a high-end job, with the car still looking great. The Minilite wheels complete the external aspect nicely. These rims are, like the rest of the car, in exceptionally good condition. The very fine bodywork has nice and thin, correctly aligned body panels. The Roll-bar and Targa roof are in very good shape. The Targa rood fits securely. The interior trim has black carpets and vinyl seat upholstery. Whilst the carpets show some signs of use, the vinyl is in perfect condition. The dashboard too is very good condition, without any damage and all instruments work correctly. Not only does this car look great, mechanically speaking it is in peak condition. In 2018 the engine was completely overhauled with many parts replaced in the process. The invoices to hand show that over € 12,500 was spent on the overhaul. It has had the desired effect: The engine runs fantastically! Since the overhaul the 2.0 engine has run just over 2,000 miles, it runs and sounds spectacular! Inspect the engine bay and you would be forgiven for thinking that the engine is brand new, the replacement parts not only give an outstanding performance, they also look great! The transmission is also in great shape and gear changes are nicely supple. The 2.0 litre engine delivers 99 Hp and makes easy work of propelling the 950 kg Porsche 914 forward. It has taken a little while for the general public to fully appreciate the Porsche 914, but we are happy to say that the moment has now arrived. Proper original, low mileage example are becoming scarce, with people starting to realise that the 914 is the real predecessor to the Boxer and Cayman. Prices are only going in one direction and we have all experienced what has happened to the prices of air-cooled 911’s. Our advice; Get in while you still can!
