History Porsche 2.4l S Targa Ölklappe

Introduced in 1972, the Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa was the most powerful open-top version of the F-Series 911 range.

Its 2.4-litre mechanically fuel-injected flat-six produced 190 hp, making the S the flagship model of its time.

The Targa body combined open-air driving with the added security of its distinctive fixed roll bar, a concept originally introduced by Porsche as the world’s first “safety cabriolet.”

The 1972 model year is also distinguished by its unique external oil-filler flap on the right rear wing, a one-year-only feature that earned it the nickname “Ölklappe.”

With only 989 examples produced, the 911 S 2.4 Targa is now considered one of the rarest and most desirable early 911s.
