Opel Kadett E Cabriolet Edition 1.6i, 1992. One owner, 38,032 km.
Wittdorf. That is the out-of-the-way little village near Osnabrück where Opel once had the Kadett Cabrio reworked, but in everyday speech it simply became the convertible for the common man. And that is exactly what this thing is all about. While the neighbour buried himself in debt for a Golf Cabriolet with that aluminium hoop hanging overhead, the level-headed German chose this Kadett. No showing off, no airs and graces. Just a roof that can go down when the sun finally decides to break through above the A31.
A quick trip back in time. The Kadett E came onto the market in 1984 and was immediately crowned Car of the Year, a title that these days carries about as much weight as a free keyring at the petrol station, but that back then genuinely meant something. The convertible version was handled by Bertone, the same Italians who had already graced the most beautiful Alfas with their lines. And you can tell: where the closed Kadett always looked a touch prim, the convertible suddenly had something mischievous about it. Open, low, and with that distinctive roll bar that told you it meant business without there being anything remotely sporty under the bonnet.
The story continues on our website, where the full file is kept as well. 88 photographs including the underside. The service history, scanned in full. Paint thickness measured panel by panel. The original factory brochure to page through. A timeline from 18 May 1992 to today, with every owner and the mileage year by year in a single graph.
Every car here follows the same route: first pre-market, then the showroom, and finally the live auction on our own site. What changes is the way you buy, not the location — once a car has arrived, it stays with us in Katwijk. This one is in the showroom and you are welcome to come and see it, no appointment needed. You buy it here at a fixed price: no bidding, no waiting. Our showroom in Katwijk, 30 km from Amsterdam Schiphol, is open Mon–Fri 9–18 and Sat 10–17. Call ahead and it will be standing ready, with someone free for you.
Within the EU no customs duty arises on this purchase. Registration tax and registration costs in your own country are not included. We supply the export documents and assist with the registration. The price shown is the full price for collection in Katwijk. We arrange insured door-to-door transport worldwide, cost quoted per destination beforehand.
Prefer a different colour or specification than this example? Tell us what you are looking for — another Opel we can often find through our network of marque specialists and collectors, outside the listings. Have one of your own: we buy exceptional cars outright, classic or modern.
Our showroom measures 6,000 m², with over 150 cars under one roof. You are just as welcome if you are not buying — walk around, take your time and enjoy the cars; sharing the enthusiasm is half of it.
HooG Selections – around 200 classics, youngtimers and modern exclusives on 6,000 m² in Katwijk, the Netherlands, twenty minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Every car is inspected, documented and photographed in-house; a paint-thickness report is available on request. Worldwide delivery: transport, export documentation and registration paperwork can be arranged. Trade-ins and consignment welcome.
