NSU Wankel Spider with Hardtop

The Wankel-Spider was the world's first production car with a rotary engine, or Wankel engine. NSU had been experimenting with Wankel-patented rotary engines since the mid-1950s. The Wankel-Spider is a roadster version of the Sports-Prinz, aimed at the more sporty rider. Aside from the removal of the top, the only exterior style difference was the two-piece grille added to the front. To accommodate the convertible top, it was necessary to fabricate new sheet metal over the rear engine bay and behind the seats to accommodate the folding canvas top. The water-cooled Wankel engine is located in the rear. The Wankel-Spider was first shown at the 1963 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The production of this nice convertible did not last long. In 1967 the curtain fell for the Wankel Spider, a total of 2375 were built. It is estimated that there are now about 150 vehicles on the road.

This Wankel-Spider was originally delivered new in Germany.

The color combination of this NSU is very tasteful, the body is painted in red. A very nice contrast with the skai black with red interior.

This NSU is in excellent condition and has been partially restored. The paintwork is still in very good condition. The fits of the sills, fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid are good. The black convertible top looks good. The very rare hardtop completes the picture.

NSU Wankel Spider mit Hardtop

Die Wankel-Spider war das weltweit erste Serienauto mit Wankelmotor oder Wankelmotor. NSU experimentierte seit Mitte der 1950er Jahre mit Wankel-patentierten Wankelmotoren. Die Wankel-Spider ist eine Roadster-Version des Sports-Prinz, die sich an den sportlicheren Fahrer richtet. Abgesehen von der Entfernung des Verdecks war der einzige Unterschied im äußeren Stil der zweiteilige Kühlergrill, der an der Front angebracht wurde. Um das Cabrioverdeck unterzubringen, war es notwendig, neue Bleche über dem hinteren Motorraum und hinter den Sitzen für das faltbare Verdeck herzustellen. Im Heck sitzt der wassergekühlte Wankelmotor. Die Wankel-Spider wurde erstmals 1963 auf der Frankfurter Automobilausstellung gezeigt.
Die Produktion dieses schönen Cabriolets dauerte leider nicht lange. 1967 fiel der Vorhang für den Wankel Spider, insgesamt wurden 2375 Exemplare gebaut. Es wird geschätzt, dass derzeit etwa 150 Fahrzeuge auf den Straßen unterwegs sind.

Diese Wankel-Spider wurde ursprünglich neu in Deutschland ausgeliefert.

Die Farbkombination dieses NSU ist sehr geschmackvoll, die Karosserie ist in Rot lackiert. Ein sehr schöner Kontrast zum Kunstleder schwarz mit roter Innenausstattung.

Dieser NSU ist in ausgezeichnetem Zustand und wurde teilweise restauriert. Der Lack ist noch in einem sehr guten Zustand. Die Passungen von Schwellern, Kotflügeln, Türen, Motorhaube und Kofferraumdeckel sind gut. Das schwarze Cabrioverdeck sieht gut aus. Das sehr seltene Hardtop rundet das Bild ab.
