Origins of the Morris Mini Traveller “Internal Tank”

Launched in 1960, the Morris Mini Traveller is the original Mini in estate version: same look, same genius from Issigonis, but with space to take everything.
The very first 1960-61 examples, like the one we are offering, are the extremely rare "Internal Tank" models, with the fuel tank housed in the trunk and the filler cap on the left rear fender. This configuration disappeared in 1961: today, it is one of the most sought-after variants of the Mini Mk1.

Our model

Here is a Morris Mini Traveller Internal Tank from July 1961, in Old English White, right-hand drive, from a very fine collection in France, where it has been cherished and carefully preserved.
The line is incredibly pure: Old English White paint, woodwork on the case… exactly the look of a real early production Woody.

Inside, the red and grey fabric interior, the central instrument cluster and the red carpeting instantly transport you to the atmosphere of the sixties. Everything exudes care and authenticity.

Under the hood, the small 848cc engine presents itself very neatly: easy start, sound operation, perfect for enjoying the light charm and unique sound of a true Mk1.

Origines du Morris Mini Traveller « Internal Tank »

Lancé en 1960, le Morris Mini Traveller, c’est la Mini originelle en version break : même regard, même génie d’Issigonis, mais avec de la place pour tout emmener.
Les tout premiers exemplaires 1960-61, comme celui que nous proposons, sont les très rares modèles « Internal Tank », avec réservoir logé dans le coffre et bouchon sur l’aile arrière gauche. Cette configuration disparaît dès 1961 : aujourd’hui, c’est l’une des variantes les plus recherchées des Mini Mk1.

Notre modèle

Voici un Morris Mini Traveller Internal Tank de juillet 1961, en Old English White, conduite à droite, provenant d’une très belle collection en France, où il a été choyé et conservé avec soin.
La ligne est d’une pureté folle : peinture Old English White, boiseries de caisse… exactement l’allure d’un vrai woody de tout début de production.

À bord, l’intérieur rouge et tissu gris, le compteur central et la moquette rouge plongent instantanément dans l’ambiance des sixties. Tout respire le soin et l’authenticité.

Sous le capot, le petit 848 cm³ se présente très proprement : démarrage facile, fonctionnement sain, parfait pour profiter du charme léger et du son unique d’une vraie Mk1.
