This Mercedes-Benz 190SL was to delivered to the United States on the 28th February 1956. Just imagine being the first owner of a Mercedes-Benz 190SL and being that person whose was able to choose the car’s colour scheme. This Mercedes-Benz 190SL has an “Elfenbein DB608” finish with a blue full leather interior trim and a blue hood. Now that is the way to fit out a W121 Roadster! The 190SL was a well running model for Mercedes-Benz with a large group of State-side enthusiasts. Although having total production of 25,881 190SL’s may seem a lot, it has now become relatively rare. This Mercedes-Benz 190SL has extensively been restored and mechanically overhauled over the last few years. Thanks to the full “Body-Off” restoration this car is in excellent shape. Invoices extensively detail the restoration. Over the last three years more than € 30,000.- has been invested in this 190SL. The quality of the restoration is not just skin deep, it is also evident when behind the wheel. Beginning on the outside. The 190SL’s bodywork is naturally in a wonderful shape. The body panels are nice and thin and correctly alignment. The paintwork is in very good condition with only minor blemishes. A new navy blue hood was fitted during the restoration and remains in pristine condition. The hood is easy to use and shuts securely. The interior trim was not overlooked during restoration receiving a complete re-upholstering and new carpets. Both seats and carpets are top quality. The blue leather contrasts fantastically with the “Elfenbein” exterior. The stunning dashboard is in great shape with all instruments are in good working oder. The Becker Monte Carlo radio is the icing on the cake. Mechanically the 190SL is also in great condition. The 4-cylinder engine was completely overhauled with the addition of twin Weber carburettors. The engine deserves proper care and attention as it is the original one, making this a matching numbers Mercedes-Benz 190SL. The manual 4-speed transmission is in good order and shifts with ease. The chassis has also been taken care of and provides a great handling and roadholding. The brakes are now power assisted and contribute to modern handling of this German roadster. And last but not least: This Mercedes-Benz 190SL comes with its well-preserved original car wallet, original brochures and spare key. Unique! This is a fantastic Mercedes-Benz 190SL in very good condition in a fetching colour combination. Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975!
