Description

The astoundingly well-equipped 300 SE represented Mercedes-Benz’s finest effort to build the best handcrafted luxury automobile possible, using only the best materials and workmanship. Over six years of production, only 3,127 of these coupes and convertibles emerged from Sindelfingen and, at nearly $13,000, the 300 SE was also the most expensive Mercedes-Benz sports-luxury model of the day. The combination of the best leathers, fabrics, and burled-wood veneers available, a fuel-injected straight six, which enabled a top speed of approximately 120 mph, and an advanced air-suspension system provided its owners with an unparalleled driving experience.

The last of the three-liter 300 SE coupes and convertibles were delivered in December 1967, and today, this final version of the low-production flagship model is widely viewed as the most desirable of the series. Certainly among the finest 300 SE Cabriolets in existence, this stunning Mercedes-Benz is finished in Light Metallic Blue (DB 353G) with a Dark Blue full leather interior, and a Dark Blue canvas top and boot. Robert Platz and his specialists at Precision Autoworks in Camden, New Jersey, restored the Cabriolet over a three-year period, beginning in 2008. The myriad show-quality finishes are simply astonishing and announce the car as a concours example. This brilliantly presented 300 SE is supplied with a five-piece set of fitted Hepco luggage and a tool kit; close inspection of this rare, sparkling gem is encouraged.
