Description
A true modern icon, the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen (Cross-Country Vehicle) is the fruit of military vehicle collaborations dating to 1972 between Daimler-Benz and Austria’s Steyr-Daimler-Puch. The first civilian version came in 1979, and these rugged vehicles have been developed over the years into myriad versions. This G500 is one of 10 examples imported new to the US by “G-Wagen” specialist firm Europa International of Santa Fe, and delivered new on June 4, 1999, to Greenwich, Connecticut.
Finished in Brilliant Silver, this 1999 Mercedes-Benz G500 Three-Door is an already thrilling find with under 29,000 original miles and three owners from new. It is even more compelling with the performance and style package by German tuning firm Brabus. Performance is impressive with its Brabus-upgraded 400-hp 5.8-liter V-8 engine in concert with a Touchtronic four-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive, with high- and low-drive ranges. In addition to factory amenities including a steel sunroof, air-conditioning, walnut accents, and five-place seating, this bespoke G500 is enhanced by Brabus upgrades including 18" monobloc alloy wheels, supple two-tone leather upholstery, Alcantara headliner, a roof spoiler, and a front spoiler with integrated fog lamps. Accompanying items include original owner’s manuals, spare keys, extensive service and history file, and a CARFAX Vehicle History Report progressively chronicling mileage, service, and ownership changes. Three-door G500s are very rarely seen in the US, and this tuned Brilliant Silver example provides a chance to truly stand out.
