Description

Chassis No. SBM12ABA6EW000090

When the McLaren F1 was released in 1993, it set the standard for all modern drivers cars to follow, and is still regarded by many as the greatest drivers car that has ever been created. The first road car to be built around an entire carbon fiber tub, the F1 offered an incredibly analog driving experience that still delivered extraordinary levels of performance. Proudly designed by Gordon Murray away from performance benchmarks, the F1 was still capable of 240.1 miles per hour, an achievement that would earn McLaren the crown of the world's fastest production car until being dethroned by the Bugatti Veyron in 2008. While the greatest asset of the F1 is admittedly the engaging driving experience and not straight line performance, it remains the fastest naturally aspirated vehicle ever produced, a true testament to just how ahead of its time the McLaren F1 truly was.

Built as the 'Spiritual Successor' to the great F1, the McLaren P1 was immediately compared with the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari with the three showcasing the latest hybrid powertrains, a trend that has now been widely adapted by the industry but was undoubtedly pioneered by this 'Holy Trinity' of vehicles. Designed by Frank Stephenson, the P1 featured a beautiful, yet entirely functional design that utilizes active aerodynamics to offer variable levels of downforce based on the selectable Race Active Chassis Control which works in conjunction with the independent hydro-pneumatic control of spring rate and damping at each wheel.

Featuring a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 727-horsepower, the P1 was assisted by an AC Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Electric Motor which provided an additional instantaneous 176 horsepower for a combined output of 903-horsepower. This combination resulted in blistering acceleration with 0-60 miles per hour taking only 2.8 seconds and 0-100 taking just 5.2 seconds before reaching the top speed of 217 mph. Equally impressive was the extraordinary braking performance offered by the carbon ceramic brakes produced in collaboration with Akebono, which are able to absorb fifty percent more energy than conventional ceramic brakes.

Delivered new to McLaren of Philadelphia, chassis no. 090 is one of just 350 models. Finished in a beautiful McLaren Orange exterior, this example is offered in a unique colorway that closely resembles the same Papaya Spark color worn by McLaren's Formula One cars. Additionally the interior was specified by the original owner with black Alcantara accented by Orange stitching and carbon fiber trim. Accompanied by factory delivered accessories, this P1 is completed with its custom-built P1 sculpture model, carbon fiber key box with the spare key, and books with tools in the leather pouch. The first Ultimate Series model from McLaren, P1 090 is offered with just 2,802 miles. No trailer queen, it in fact benefits from modest usage and regular maintenance, providing peace of mind - and a very enjoyable ownership experience for the next caretaker.
