Description

"The Fulvia Sport was a fastback two-seater based on Coupé mechanicals, built for Lancia by Zagato where it had been designed by Ercole Spada. The Sport was commissioned by Lancia to Zagato as a more aerodynamic and sportier version of the coupé, which could be used in road and track competitions. There were three peculiarities of the Series I Sport body which were the engine bonnet hinged to the righthand side, the rear hatch, (which could be lifted electrically by a handful of centimetres to aid cabin ventilation) and the spare wheel being housed in a separate compartment, accessed from a rotating panel which held the rear number plate. The Sport 1.3 S had a very limited run from 1968 to 1969 with an updated 1,298cc engine producing 92 hp (69 kW) at 6,000 rpm.
This delightful and highly original 1968 Series I Sport S presents very well in pale yellow, (Avorio Santa Anita), with black trim interior and Italian specification rubber floor mats. Being a ‘proper’ Lancia, this rare and sought after Series I, (with aluminium bonnet and door skins), has nice touches which were lost on later cars; such as the chrome headlight surrounds and door handles, side-hinged bonnet and rear access hatch housing the spare wheel. Formerly part of a large Italian collection, the vendor purchased this car seven years ago upon its arrival to the UK. The car was in excellent rust free condition, but had clearly been unused for a while and required some recommissioning. With the help of marque specialists, the carburettors, brakes, suspension and other components were gone through, reconditioning or replacing parts as required. A new correct headlining was also fitted by Omicron Engineering. Since then only routine maintenance has been required with the car reportedly driving exceptionally well. Everything is standard and correct apart from the uprated 123 electronic ignition system and the period Stihl Auto alloy wheels. The front bumpers have been removed for a more ‘sporty’ look, but are included with the car.
Supplied with a V5C registration document, history file, front bumpers and MoT test certificate valid until June 2021. This incredibly rare, (9th of the 129 1.3 S cars built) and wonderful to drive Lancia, offers enormous fun and driving pleasure, as well as membership to a very exclusive club.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
