In 1990, Lamborghini’s managers had a dream that this car would reach a top speed of at least 320 km/h. The engineers of the Casa del Toro turned this desire into reality: with a top speed of at least 320 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, the Diablo reached pole position in the supersport car segment.

The Diablo was destined to become the worthy heir of the famous Miura and Countach. This new supercar was wide, low and futuristic and, just like its ancestors, soon became a favorite among car enthusiasts around the world.

After the acquisition of Lamborghini by Audi AG, it was decided to make a number of changes to the design of the car, to increase revenue, until the replacement of this model, the Lamborghini Murciélago, is ready. This was the last redesign of the main car. The changes affected both the exterior and the design: the front bumper, the vents, the dashboard, the seats changed again. Now Diablo has got the VT 6.0 index.

The 6-litre car engine, inherited from the Diablo GT, received corrections in the ECU programme, power and exhaust systems, valve control, and variable suction valve system.

Produced between 1990 and 2001, Lamborghini introduced several variants in the Diablo concept that helped build the Legend of Lamborghini and were a great success in terms of sales: almost 3000 cars were sold.

Dopo l’acquisizione di Lamborghini da parte di Audi AG, si è deciso di apportare una serie di modifiche al design dell’auto, per aumentare i ricavi, fino a quando non sarà pronta la sostituzione di questo modello, la Lamborghini Murciélago. Questa è stata l’ultima riprogettazione dell’auto principale. Le modifiche hanno interessato sia l’esterno che il design: il paraurti anteriore, le prese d’aria, il cruscotto, i sedili sono stati nuovamente modificati. Ora Diablo ha l’indice VT 6.0.

Il motore dell’auto da 6 litri, ereditato dalla Diablo GT, ha ricevuto correzioni nel programma ECU, nei sistemi di alimentazione e di scarico, nel controllo delle valvole e nel sistema di valvole di aspirazione variabile.
