History of the Jaguar XK150

Introduced in 1957, the Jaguar XK150 was the third and final evolution of Jaguar’s legendary XK sports-car family, following the XK120 and XK140.

It featured a more modern and wider body, a distinctive one-piece curved windscreen, improved interior comfort and significantly better braking thanks to four-wheel disc brakes, technology developed from Jaguar’s successful competition programme.

The Drophead Coupé was the more luxurious open version of the XK150, combining the performance of Jaguar’s famous XK straight-six engine with wind-up windows, a fully lined folding roof and greater comfort for long-distance touring.

The 3.4-litre SE version produced around 210 bhp, offering strong performance for the period.

The XK150 represented the ultimate development of Jaguar’s original post-war sports-car concept and remained in production until 1961, when it was succeeded by the revolutionary Jaguar E-Type.
