Led by Sir William Lyons, a revolutionary car was born in Coventry, UK in the late 1950s: the Jaguar MKII. The car was advanced, with a unibody and disc brakes. Particular attention had been paid to the car's silence, vibration damping and a comfortable but sporty suspension. As the Jaguars motto, launched first time with MKII said: “Grace, Space, Pace”.

The end result was a luxurious and sporty large mid-size sedan. A representative car the kind of bank robbers stole as an escape car. And a capable four-door sport saloon that succeeded also as a racing car the kind that German competitors like BMW and Mercedes could only dream of at the time.

This 1963’ Carmine Red Jaguar MKII was imported to Finland from Sweden already back in the 1980s. It is equipped with the most powerful engine option available for the model: a 3.8-litre straight-six with two SU carburettors. The transmission is a four-speed manual with an overdrive.

Jaguar has been restored in the 2000s and was registered as a historic vehicle in 2008. The current owner, H. Vähäsaari, acquired the Jaguar in 2021. During his ownership, the car has been regularly maintained and serviced by Grips Garage, a specialist in British classic cars.

During 2025 and 2026, the engine oil and filter, transmission and differential oils, as well as the fuel lines and fuel filter, were renewd. Furthermore, a comprehensive condition inspection was carried out, confirming that the car is in good condition in terms both of the body condition and technical aspects. In the future, the tyres and some of rubber components and bushes in the suspension/chassis will require replacement.

The Jaguar’s 3.8-litre straight-six purrs smoothly, and the transmission and overdrive operate with precision. It offers a truly distinguished driving experience.

A great, well-mannered example of 3.8 MKII — ready to be enjoyed.
