Description
1971 Jaguar E-type 2+2 Series 3
Universal Classic Cars are pleased to present, the ever iconic Jaguar E-Type. First released back in 1961 the E-Type stood out from the crowed, not just for its sleek body lines but for its unitary construction, independent front and rear suspension, disk brakes and rack and pinion steering. Jaguar based the E-Type on the D-Type Racing car giving it a front subframe that bolted directly to the main body tub negating the use of a ladder chassis and keeping the weight down.
This particular E-Type is a 1971 Series 3, 2+2 coupe. Chassis 50003 indicates this is the 3rd 2+2 off the production line and was at the launch show in 1971 as a press car.
Powered by the 5.3 litre Jaguar V12 with a claimed 272HP. Perfect for GT driving offering good luggage space and the unmissable V12 soundtrack from the quad exit exhaust.
Engine and gearbox also benefit from a recent overhall in 2017 by Southern Classics, Twickenham. Along with a small restoration of the bodywork and floor back in 2020. This E-Type has been very well cared for and certainly ready to see some roads.
Retro fitted with a bespoke Clayton AC system making European roads trips much more comfortable and even the odd UK heat wave.
Series 3 vehicles benefit from uprated disk brakes, power steering and a longer wheel base offering more space within the cabin.
Dark blue leather interior contrasted against the light blue paint, works beautifully and is a nice place to be.
