Description

"The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 to create a combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing. Established as an icon of 1960's motoring and a great success for Jaguar, more than 70,000 E-Types were sold during its lifespan. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961, with the domestic market launch coming four months later, in July of that year. The cars at this time used the triple SU carburettor, 3.8 litre, six cylinder XK engine from the XK150's. The first 300 cars built had flat floors and external bonnet latches and are considered to be the most valuable. After that the bonnet latches moved inside the car, whilst under the bonnet, the engine size increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964.
This righthand drive, 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster, was manufactured on 19th March 1965 and delivered to Henlys in Manchester on 31st March with its first keeper being Ogden & Lawson Ltd. of Workington. The Heritage Certificate that accompanies the car also confirms that the car still retains its original registration number CNB 869C and was first registered on 1st April, 1965.
The car featured in the big budget James Bond spoof Casino Royale of 1967 with Peter Sellers heading up an all star cast including David Niven, Orson Welles, Woody Allen and Ursula Andress to name but a few. The car was used on screen in a chase sequence hot on the heels of James Bond (David Niven) before a replica of the car comes to an untimely end.
After its time on the silver screen the car was comprehensively restored in 2015 to the tune of £50,000, the bodywork was stripped to bare metal and the gearbox and carburettors were rebuilt by Chris Forbes of CFS Motors in Coventry. A new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted as well as a new radiator, a complete overhaul of the braking system including calipers, discs and servos making the car usable in modern traffic conditions and she sits on chrome wire wheels. The black interior is as new and to keep the elements at bay, a new hood was fitted. Finished in red with a contrasting black interior, this beautifully restored E-Type offers the new owner one of the best examples of iconic British motoring history. This head turner is also supplied with various bills and receipts.
