- Beautiful replica of the mythical type D
- Perfect condition
- Recent overhaul

With its phenomenal record of three victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the mid-1950s, the famous Jaguar Type D has long been the preferred choice for replicas. Many collectors have been dreaming for so long of being able to drive the mythical car but without the opportunity to do so. Recognised as one of the best replicas of the Type D, the RAM Type D body and chassis kit manufactured by L & R Roadsters has been praised by Kit Cars & Specials magazine for its "undisputed mechanical integrity... one of the most desirable replicas we have ever had". Rather than the monocoque structure of the original, the RAM was built on a solid tubular steel frame chassis designed by Adrian Reynard. When potential buyers approached LR Roadsters at the time, it was possible to choose between an original Jaguar 3.5, 3.8 or 4.2 engine equipped with three Weber carburetors.
The sublime Type D featured in these pages was first released in 1978 and acquired by the current owner in May 2017. A great motor sport enthusiast, he will continue to improve the working condition of his Jaguar. The engine is a 3.5l (number 7B1385.8) and is powered by three superb Weber 40 DCOE carburetors. The estimated power is close to 300 hp. The gearbox is a 4-speed overdrive gearbox, the drive trains are equipped with disc brakes and the rear axle has independent suspension. The upholstery is in red leather with a slight patina and the instrumentation is as beautiful as it is functional. The test will reveal the driving condition of a real race car with phenomenal power but a relatively easy and docile drive. A complete overhaul has just been carried out by a specialist. A marvel of automotive design, a true work of art on wheels, this Type D has its rightful place in a collection of exclusive cars.
