I've always had a soft spot for that Japanese engineering culture. Where the Italians poured their soul into an engine block and the Germans their ego into a dashboard, the Japanese built something far more radical: a car that simply worked. Forever. Honda in particular had an obsession with perfection in those years that bordered on the maniacal. Valves adjusted to the thousandth of a millimetre, engines that would happily keep spinning at 8,000 rpm as if they'd just woken up. No drama. Just control.
