Supplied by Hendy Ford, Southampton on the 20/05/1996 for use by company director Paul Hendy and first registered as H8 NDYThe car joined the Hendy Ford Collection until it was sold in 2017 atsome 35,000 milesMaintained internally by Hendy Ford as a company car and still bearing their stickers and numberplateBought directly from the collection by our vendor in 2017. Current mileage 35,919miles (atoc)Supplied withbook packs and previous MOTs, the last of which is valid until April 2021Remarkably offered with No Reserve this car offers a fantastic opportunity.Although the RS Cosworth strongly resembled the Escort road car, it was in fact based on a shortened Sierra 4x4 floor-pan and used the latter's running gear. The power unit was Cosworth's familiar, 2.0-litre, 16-valve, four-cylinder turbo, in road trim producing 227bhp. All that horsepower in a nimble, compact car made for stupendous performance - 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds, 138mph top speed, and the end of production in 1996 was a sad day for many. This example was supplied by Hendy Ford, Southampton on the 20th May 1996 for use by company director, Paul Hendy, and registered as H8NDY when new.In our vendors own words:In the first 6 years of its life the car covered 30,000 miles until Mr Hendy stopped using it, and the vehicle was then put into the Hendy Ford collection of vehicles where it sat for the next 11 years covering an average of 450 miles per year attending the odd show or Hendy Ford display, and being taken for its annual MOT.An American company bought out the Hendy Group in 2017 and declared that the whole collection of RS Motorsport vehicles must be disposed ofso, as I knew Dennis Moody (the man who maintained and managed the whole of Hendys collection for some 32 years), I was given the opportunity to purchase the vehicle directly in March 2017, rather than it go to auction. In April this year, the car was thoroughly checked over and submitted for an MOT which it flew through without an advisory! The car was also road tested for approximately 60 miles and performed without fault. From 2011 to present the car has seen very little use but has been kept under close eye in a heated and dehumidified storage.Presented in the classic RS Cosworth colour combination of Auralis Blue with Hex Cloth interior, this small turbo car has just two registered keepers on the V5C, the first being Hendy Ltd, and the second being Hendy Holdings Ltd as the vehicle was transferred within the two companies in 1999. Naturally maintained 'in-house'by Hendy Ford workshop technicians and invoiced internally, the service book has not been stamped because of this. Our vendor informs us that all previous MOTs are included in the history file and the original book pack is present. Pleasingly, the Hendy Fordstickers and the original number plates are still on the car.Offered to auction at No Reserve this car has one of the best provenances for an RS Cosworth we have seen and the condition is commensurate with the indicated mileage of some 35,919at the time of cataloguing. You can book an appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location at Hall 1, NAEC Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, CV8 2LG Monday to Friday between the 1st and 12th November.
