Description

"The 124 Sport Spider was marketed by Fiat between 1966 and 1980 having debuted at the November 1966 Turin Motor Show. Designed and manufactured by Italian Carrozzeria Pininfarina, specifically Sergio Pininfarina, who used the already available designs of the Chevrolet Corvette 'Rondine' and Ferrari 275GTS. The four-cylinder engine used in the spider and coupé was a double overhead cam, aluminium crossflow head version of the saloon’s pushrod unit. It started in 1966 with a capacity of 1,438cc progressively increasing to 1,608cc in 1970, 1,756cc in 1974 and finally 1,995cc in 1979, designed by Dan Vano. The double overhead cam version was the first mass manufactured DOHC to utilise reinforced rubber timing belts, an innovation that would come into nearly universal use in the decades after its introduction. Uprated versions powered race cars such as the Fiat 131 Mirafiori, Special T, Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Delta Integrale and many others.
Originally registered on 29th March 1973 this Fiat presents in delightful condition. The very knowledgeable and fastidious vendor has recently commissioned a significant amount of work on the car and as such YND 834L is a splendid example of this under-rated sports car. Lift the bonnet on this 124 Spider and it is apparent this has been a very well cared for Fiat. The interior has been re-trimmed with the dashboard top roll colour co-ordinated. Supplied with a V5C registration document this Fiat 124 is ready to be enjoyed immediately."
