At the turn of the 1970s, Fiat called on legendary tuner Abarth to transform its 124 Spider into a genuine racing car. The result was the 124 Abarth Rally, homologated in Group 4 to conquer the special stages of the World Rally Championship. Lighter, stronger and improved, this Italian car enjoyed a brilliant international career, driven by its ‘customer competition’ versions, developed directly by Officine Abarth in Turin.The model we are presenting here is an authentic 124 CSA Rally Group 4 Competition Customer, chassis no. 0061990, built in 1973 and entered in 1975 in the Italian Rally Championship by the official Fiat Ceccato team, driven by the Cabianca/Sally duo, notably in the San Marino Rally. This is therefore a genuine historic example, designed to the competition standards of the time. Long registered in this small country, this 124 was imported to France in the early 2000s before entering our enthusiast's collection about five years ago. Fully restored (without invoices), this 124 is faithful to its original configuration. It features many elements specific to Abarth customer competition versions: fixed hard top, wing extensions, straight-cut Colotti gearbox, Abarth rear axle with independent wheels and limited slip differential, reinforced brakes (ventilated discs, alloy calipers), Campagnolo magnesium wheels, adjustable suspension, reinforced chassis protection and, of course, the Group 4 engine tuned to 170 horsepower thanks to Weber 48 carburettors, forged pistons and a prepared cylinder head.
