Description

Chassis No. ZFFGT61A350144232

When the Ferrari 550 Maranello debuted in 1996, it was immediately hailed as one of the most beautiful modern Ferraris. Its design paid elegant homage to the classic 365 GTB/4 Daytona, offering breathtaking lines from every angle, inside and out. Though visually similar, its successor-the 575M Maranello-arrived with a host of enhancements. These included larger brakes, refined aerodynamics, updated suspension, a redesigned cabin, and a more powerful 5.7-liter V12 engine producing over 500 horsepower.

While the 550's only open-top version was the minimalist Barchetta Pininfarina, introduced without any real weather protection, the 575M brought something far more innovative: the Superamerica. Released in 2005, it featured a groundbreaking "Revocromico" rotating roof-an electrochromic glass panel framed in carbon fiber that pivoted 180 degrees to transform the coupe into a full convertible at the touch of a button. Drivers could also adjust the tint of the roof, varying from transparent to opaque with a simple dial. The modest increase in weight was more than balanced by the upgraded "F133 G" engine, now delivering 532-horsepower and pushing the Superamerica to a top speed of 199 miles per hour, making it the world's fastest-and most desirable-convertible upon release.

Superbly preserved, this Superamerica wears its factory selected shade of Grigio Silverstone over a luxurious Cuoio Naturale leather interior. It must be said that the livery is a highly sophisticated combination that suits the rare Ferrari with aplomb. The original window sticker reveals a bevy of options totaling an additional $44,839. Most important is the highly desirable GTC Handling Package. For an additional $21,837, this group of options added 19-inch Modular wheels from BBS, Brembo carbon fiber ceramic brakes, a performance track-tuned suspension system, and a low-restriction exhaust. Additional choice selections include Daytona Style seats, a Charcoal-colored dashboard, Charcoal-colored steering wheel, rear wall leather upholstery, and High Power HIFI + six-disc Becker Silverstone CD changer, among other options.

Sold new by Ferrari of Newport Beach, the Superamerica's clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report records prior ownership in the mild climates of Nevada and beginning in 2010 in Southern California. Numerous services are recorded on its CARFAX as well, with consistent visits to Ferrari of Newport Beach. A thorough history file follows the car documenting its service history that includes a visit to GTO Engineering in July 2020 for new engine mounts, trunk strut replacement, and an annual service. Most recently, in December 2024, the rare Superamerica received a thorough service from Exclusive Motorcars of Arizona that included replacement of its timing belts and tensioner bearings, engine oil change, brake system flush, cooling system flush, and new accessory belts at 5,228 miles.

Offered with just 5,246 original miles at cataloging, this rare Superamerica-one of just 170 delivered to the U.S.-remains in pristine condition, beautifully preserved under enthusiast ownership. In furtherance of its impressive presentation, the car retains its original window sticker, books, tools, battery charger, and car cover. Perhaps it is the Superamerica that truly bridges the gap between vintage Ferrari and the modern post-Enzo era. Powered by a front engine V12, built in limited numbers, with Pininfarina design, and an innovative Revocromico rotating top, this well specified Superamerica with the highly desirable GTC Handling Package and low mileage must surely be among the very best on offer today.
