Description

The 275 GTS was launched alongside the 275 GTB in October 1964 at the Paris Salon, the Pininfarina-designed GTS was the overdue replacement for Ferrari's Series II 250 GT PF Cabriolet that had ceased production back in 1962. Producing 260bhp the GTS favoured torque over top end power. With its top speed of 147mph and 0-60 requiring just 6.6 seconds, little else could match it as a great all-rounder. Fully independent suspension, a five speed manual gearbox paired with an easy to use convertible roof and Borrani wire wheels made for quite the elegant spider. Without losing the character of the 250 series, the 275s began to offer a little more in the way of luxuries. For starters, a larger cabin, more generously sized seating and a wooden veneer dashboard helped make the 275 a little more comfortable and usable.

This car offered for sale by DK Engineering is one of just 200 cars built by Ferrari. It was completed in February 1965 and is today finished in the colour scheme of Blu Chiaro Metallizato over Pelle Blu hide.

First delivered new to Spain, this GTS spent the majority of its life in Italy. This remarkable example was delivered new to Mr Rugico in 1965. Moving to Italy, the car saw several owner changes, staying around Modena and Bologna. It was beautifully restored in 2008 by Quality Cars of Vigonza and GPS Classic of Soragna to bring it up to concours standards. It was first entered and enjoyed in the 2008 Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, then the following year at the hands of its then owner, Norberto Ferretti, founder of the esteemed yacht manufacturer Ferretti Yachts S.p.A. it was entered at displayed at the exclusive and most prestigious Villa D’Este Concours on Lake Como.

Sold in 2011, the car found its new home in a collection in Switzerland for a couple of years until it changed hands one further time coming into the care of its current custodian in 2013. Accompanied by its all important Classiche Certification red binder, this confirmed matching numbers UK registered 275 GTS is available to view immediately at our showrooms just outside London.
