There are cars that adapt to their era, and there are cars that are far ahead of it. The Citroën CX belongs, without question, to that latter category. With its futuristic lines, unrivalled ride comfort and innovative engineering, the CX grew into one of the most legendary French cars ever built. This Citroën CX 25 GTi Automatic from May 1986 is a splendid example. Originating from Germany, finished in stylish Alu Silber Metallic with a black cloth interior and fitted with an automatic transmission, this specimen is in a particularly tidy and largely original condition. With just 53,851 kilometres, largely original paint, extensive documentation and even the original purchase invoice from 1986, this is a rare and beautifully preserved example.

Since its founding in 1919, Citroën has built a reputation as one of the most forward-thinking car manufacturers in the world. Models such as the Traction Avant and the legendary DS changed the automotive world forever through groundbreaking innovations in engineering, comfort and design.

When the Citroën CX was introduced in 1974 as the successor to the beloved DS, the marque faced an enormous challenge. The successor had not only to match the revolutionary engineering of its predecessor, but also to set the standard anew for luxury touring cars. It succeeded convincingly. The CX combined an extremely streamlined design with the famous hydropneumatic suspension, so that the car seemed literally to float over the road surface.
