Our 1924 Bentley 3–4½ Litre Le Mans Style Tourer is a superbly executed example of one of the most iconic pre-war British sporting cars. Originally built as a 3 Litre chassis by W.O. Bentley Motors, it has since been upgraded to 4½ Litre specification in the spirit of the original factory racing cars. The result is a powerful, beautifully balanced tourer that remains faithful to the competition Bentleys of the late 1920s. Finished in traditional British Racing Green with a matching green leather interior and carpets, the car is re-bodied in Le Mans-style coachwork, crafted in ash and covered in period-correct Rexine fabric. The body sits perfectly on the original short chassis, giving it ideal proportions and a sporting stance. The dash is fully equipped with a complete set of Le Mans-spec Jaeger instrumentation, delivering both functionality and vintage authenticity. Under the bonnet lies the correct 4½ Litre engine, fed by twin SU sloper carburettors and paired with a proper 4½ Litre radiator. The performance is exceptional — the car pulls strongly, cruises comfortably at 80 mph, and is fitted with overdrive for relaxed high-speed touring. The bellows-type servo-assisted braking system provides excellent stopping power, further enhancing its usability and drivability in modern traffic. After a period of minimal use due to the previous owner’s declining health, the car was entrusted to renowned Bentley authority Graham Moss of R.C. Moss in 2024. A full recommissioning was carried out, including road testing and refinement. Following an extended test drive, Moss himself described the car as being in “perfect running condition” and among the best examples he has experienced — a significant endorsement from a leading figure in the Bentley world. The car also benefits from practical and stylistic details including mesh-protected headlamps, additional driving lamps, freshly powder-coated wire wheels, bonnet straps, aero screens, and a high-capacity Le Mans fuel tank — reportedly over 140 litres in volume. These elements combine to produce a commanding presence on the road and a thrilling, immersive driving experience. Maintained to a remarkably high standard, this car presents in near-concours condition throughout. It stands as a testament to the enduring appeal and mechanical brilliance of W.O. Bentley’s designs. For those seeking a true vintage Bentley that offers real performance, period correctness, and show-stopping looks, this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest examples available today.
