Description
Following the extraordinary success of the 100/4, Austin-Healey released a high-performance version of the roadster, the 100M, which was equipped with the Le Mans package. This package included larger SU H6 carburetors, a cold air box, high-lift cam, increased compression, stiffer suspension, and a racy louvered hood with leather strap.
This gorgeous US-delivery example is one of these factory-built 100M models and was retained by its long-term owner, Chet Ekard, a meticulous Southern California-based Healey enthusiast, until 2018. A summary on file by Ekard details the extensive restoration he carried out during his ownership, and specifically notes that body no. 12205 can be found on the Healey’s bootlid, louvered hood, and cockpit surrounds. Around 2017, the incredible photodocumented restoration was completed, with the Healey resplendent in its stunning period-correct colors of Ice Blue Metallic with Old English White. It was next acquired by a Florida-based collector before being purchased by the consignor. Today, the 100M is accompanied by an owner’s manual and side curtains, as well as its BMIHT Certificate and Worldwide 100M Le Mans Registry certificate. With extraordinary attention to detail lavished on every aspect of the restoration, this 100M stands as one of the finest examples of its kind and represents a rare and exciting opportunity for even the most discerning British sports car enthusiasts.
