Description

Chassis No. BN1L149987

Engine No. 1B/205024

As documented by a copy of its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate (BMIHT), this 1953 Austin-Healey 100 completed production on 18 December 1953. Finished in rare Coronet Cream with a lovely Blue interior, the left-hand-drive car was delivered new to the United States market.

While the early history remains a mystery, the application for a Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) identification card reveals that the car resided in Kentucky from 2002 until 2016, reportedly under the care of its previous owner for over 50 years. Its journey continued when BMC Classics of the Netherlands brought it back to Europe in 2016, where the current owner purchased and registered it in Germany on 30 March 2017.

Upon its arrival in Germany, the car was entrusted to the skilled hands of Peter Bazille, a craftsman at B.F. Touring Garage in Germany to prepare it for thrilling rallies and prestigious exhibitions across the continent. Part of this preparation included removing the bumpers, adding a set of period-appropriate fog lights, and installing a Halda Trip Master. The car's race–worthiness was showcased at renowned events, including the Mille Miglia, Ennstal Classic, Goodwood Revival, and numerous other events. Designed as a "racecar for the road," it was a formidable contender at the Classic Days Schloss Dyck Festival and the Hamburg Stadtpark Revival.

With its sleek Coronet Cream paintwork and scrumptious Blue interior, all of which have developed a charming patina, the car is sure to stand out wherever it goes. Of note is that the tachometer has been replaced in the past, but the speedometer is believed to be original, with just over 40,000 miles displayed on the odometer at the time of listing. As presented today, this 1953 Austin-Healey 100 is reported to be a well-running and fun-to-drive example by the consigning Broad Arrow Car Specialist, and that is more than eager to continue bringing a joyous smile to anyone who finds them lucky enough to find themselves behind the steering wheel.
