MODEL HISTORY

The Aston Martin DB4 was originally launched at the 1958 London Motor Show. This new design by Aston Martin and Carrozzeria Touring of Milan incorporated the lightweight Superleggera (tube frame) and was powered by the straight-six all-alloy engine designed by Tadek Marek.

THIS MOTOR CAR

This particular Aston Martin DB4 is accompanied by a copy of its original build sheet from April 1961 and was originally specified with chrome wire wheels, oil cooler and overdrive. Now presented in Aston Martin Green Metallic with Grey Green Interior, the car retains its original engine and comes with correct 4-speed/overdrive gearbox, Zagato seats, tools, jack and a superb history file including many photos.

The car was used extensively by Aston Martin Works as a demonstrator and development car before it was sold in late 1961 to a Mr. R Callaby of Bedford before going to the Eclipse Cooper Company in York. At this time the registration number was changed to 862 BDN which it still displays today. In 1972 it was sold by Aston racer Mike Radley to a Mr. John Winsor of Northants. It was during Mr. Windsor’s lengthy ownership that the historic importance of the car emerged and an extensive programme of research and restoration began.

Most of the restoration was carried out by Mr Winsor’s own company GTC Engineering with chassis and body repairs subcontracted to Shapecraft. The trim work was carried out by the same trimmer who originally finished the car when new. The work involved included a full body-off restoration and bare metal re-paint to the highest of standards.

Since the full restoration in 1992, this Aston Martin DB4 has covered just over 5,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained by specialists RS Williams. We are proud to now offer this exceptional Aston Martin DB4 for sale at The Classic Motor Hub, the first Series 3 produced and the factory demonstrator.
