Description
The A310 was the last Alpine model to be developed by the company’s founder, Jean Rédélé, before he sold the Alpine brand in its entirety to Renault. As a result of this sale, Alpine cars were marketed under the dual brand name Alpine Renault and later Renault Alpine. The design of the A310 can be traced back to the British designer Trevor Fiore, who had been working for Carrozzeria Fissore since the late sixties.
The first generation of the A310 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971. The car had a 4-cylinder engine and six headlights. In 1976, the A310 was restyled by Robert Opron and fitted with the more powerful, newly developed V6 PRV engine, which was also used in some Renaults, Volvos and Peugeots. The V6 engine delivered 150 bhp giving it a top speed of 220 kph. For the 1981 model year, the car received a facelift in which the narrow rubber front and rear bumpers were replaced by large plastic bumpers. Furthermore, the three-hole alloy wheels were replaced by the four-hole TRX alloy wheels from the Renault 5 Turbo. The rear suspension was also shared with the Renault 5 Turbo from then on. This is the so-called Phase 2, and it is also the example we are now offering for sale.
This particular Alpine A310 V6 was originally delivered new in Switzerland. In 2006, the car was imported into the Netherlands, where it had two owners. In 2014, it was finally acquired by a Belgian collector who still owns it today. It is a very original and well-preserved example. The paintwork naturally shows a few minor scratches and cracks, which is typical of an Alpine of this generation. The engine runs very smoothly and has just undergone a full service. At the same time, the shock absorbers were also replaced (the original ‘Alpine’ shock absorbers will be supplied with the car). The interior is still entirely original, and the cloth upholstery is still in remarkably good condition.
The car comes with a decent file containing numerous maintenance and repair invoices, as well as the original Dutch and Swiss registration documents. The original owner’s manual (in five languages) is also included, along with a workshop manual and an original brochure. The Alpine has a Belgian registration with classic car status.
So if you are looking for a very honest, original and unmolested example of the V6 engined Alpine A310, this is definitely a good candidate. Most of these cars have been heavily modified or tuned, or are simply in a poor and neglected condition. This example is clearly well cherished by its previous owners, and now looking for a good new home.
