Picture this: enthusiasts gather to talk about the absolute pinnacle of German performance saloons, and one name always surfaces. Alpina. The story began in 1965, when founder Burkard Bovensiepen set out to refine BMW models into exclusive, more powerful and more luxurious machines. Where many people see Alpina as a tuner, the marque is officially recognised as an independent car manufacturer, with its own chassis number series and a reputation celebrated around the world.

The Alpina B5 was introduced in 2005, built on the E60-generation BMW 5 Series. It was developed for drivers who wanted the performance of a sports car combined with the comfort and luxury of a first-rate executive saloon. The first-generation B5 was an instant sensation thanks to its striking performance, refined road manners and exclusive presence.

Under the bonnet of this Alpina B5 sits a mighty 4.4 litre V8 fitted with a mechanical supercharger. The result is an output that, at the time, belonged to the very top of the segment. The B5 was quicker than many exotic sports cars of its era, yet it could also cover long distances effortlessly, in ultimate comfort.

Today the Alpina B5 E60 is regarded as a truly special collector's item. Thanks to the limited production numbers and its unique character, interest among collectors and lovers of exclusive BMW models grows every year.
