Some cars are designed to please everyone. And then there are cars that do exactly the opposite. The Alfa Romeo 75 unquestionably belongs to the latter category—and that was entirely intentional. Alfa Romeo introduced the 75 in 1985 to celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary. Not as a safe successor to the Giulietta, but as a car with a strong personality and a clear point of view. “Winner by the best tradition and a striking personality,” Alfa Romeo stated in 1988. And that description still rings true today.

The design came from Ermanno Cressoni, head of Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. Sharp, angular, almost defiant. That distinctive front end, the square headlights, the short overhangs—it’s not a car that tries to be universally liked. It has character on its own terms, and that is exactly what makes it so appealing. Especially finished in Bianco Argento, paired with a gray velour interior. Pure 1980s, and today once again perfectly on point.

This particular example also sits on the right wheels: classic Ronal alloys, subtly lowered. Just enough to give it a more purposeful stance without compromising its original character. Sporty, but never loud—exactly as it should be.

Under the hood lies the 2.0 Twin Spark, arguably the engine you wanted back then. Lively, eager, and perfectly matched to the chassis. Because the Alfa Romeo 75 is at least as interesting technically as it is visually. The engine sits up front, while the gearbox and clutch are mounted at the rear as part of the differential—a true transaxle layout. The result is near-perfect weight distribution, and you can feel it. In every corner. At every roundabout. Even when you’re “just going for a short drive.”

The rear suspension with inboard brakes was expensive and complex at the time, but Alfa Romeo went ahead with it anyway. Because it drove better. Period. This is not a car you merely drive—this is a car that works with you.

Inside, the same philosophy continues. No unnecessary frills, just a clear focus on the driver. Instruments angled toward you, that unmistakable Alfa Romeo dashboard that felt genuinely forward-thinking in the 1980s. The interior of this example has been remarkably well preserved, something that has become increasingly rare for a 75.

In short, an Alfa that was unapologetically its own creation. You feel it. You hear it. You see it. A well-kept Alfa Romeo 75 2.0 Twin Spark like this is no longer an everyday sight. But for those who know what they’re looking at, this is exactly the kind of car that makes every drive just a little more enjoyable than planned.
