Silver Yachts: Discretion and taste the new bling?

One can never buy good taste – a statement never truer than when applied to the floating gin palaces moored in La Condamine or Porto Cervo. There is an alternative, however: the understated quality of the German Silver Yachts boatyard.

A new book from Cologne publisher teNeues shows some of the company’s biggest and most dramatic designs. You’ll have to look hard for gold taps and python-skin lampshades, though, in the models from founders German industrialist Guido Krass and top yacht designer Espen Øino.

The richly illustrated, 240-page book really shows how impressive these megayachts are, either at sea or moored. Now, pass us that rum punch…
