In order for Captain Kevin Oprey to be photographed standing proudly on the nose of his ‘Queen’, plenty of planning was required – as were perfect weather conditions. Finally, on a Sunday in March, the time was right: the sea off the coast of Bali was still, and the weight of the approximately 151,000-tonne ocean liner was just-so. This meant the nose breached the waterline enough for the captain to stand proud and keep his feet dry; all that was left was for Australian photographer James D. Morgan to capture the once-in-a-lifetime image.
