Dive into the past with the new Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica

Taking inspiration from watches issued to the Italian Navy in the 1930s, Panerai’s new Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica is a classic design with a contemporary finish…

Vintage cues, modern materials

Measuring 48mm, the 1940 3 Days Ceramica’s case is certainly on the large side, though its modern, matte-black ceramic finish – synthesised from extremely durable zirconium oxide – tones down the aesthetic impact somewhat. The classic sandwich dial remains, with ecru Super-LumiNova markers to give it a vintage feel, and a subtle relief image of the Siluro a Lenta Corsa, or ‘human torpedo’, celebrating the 1930s Italian Naval commandos’ Panerai watches on which the image originally featured. Visible through the exhibition caseback is the hand-wound P.3000 movement, which is water-resistant to around 100 metres. The watch is supplied with a brown, untreated leather strap.
