From Marzahn to Monterey - how Berlin start-up Fahrengold showcases cars to perfection

From East Berlin's outskirts to the most exclusive circles of the car world: with its presence at Monterey Car Week and a close partnership with Bugatti, Fahrengold is cementing its rapid rise. Here's how the Marzahn start-up's products became the new standard for collectors and hypercar makers.

Berlin may have been a genuine car hub before the Second World War, but since the closure of the AVUS circuit at the latest, the German capital has been unable to keep pace with Stuttgart and Munich when it comes to automotive culture. That is especially true when the conversation turns from attractive everyday cars to blue-chip classics and highly exclusive supercars and hypercars. With its high concentration of AMGs, Porsches and Lamborghinis, the Kurfürstendamm in Charlottenburg may still be a decent hunting ground for the occasional car spotter, but in the former eastern half of the city, outrageously expensive exotics are a rare sight indeed. Marzahn is hardly the place you would expect to stumble upon a concours d'elegance.

And yet it is precisely this district that is home to the company now breaking with long-held conventions about how the finest cars are parked and displayed. Nikita Fahrenholz, a sports car enthusiast and Ferrari fan, grew up as the son of a single Russian immigrant mother in neighbouring Hellersdorf and founded Fahrengold in 2019. Today its products are made in Marzahn, so for the entrepreneur the business is something of a return to his roots. Behind it all lies his conviction that the cars you love deserve to be presented, not simply parked.

The garage becomes a museum

Revolutionising collectors' garages and taking their aesthetics to a new level was far from the first business idea for this serial founder, who worked as a management consultant at McKinsey after completing his studies. Fahrenholz has been a familiar name on the international start-up scene for more than 15 years. In 2009 he was part of the founding team of the food delivery service Lieferheld, which later merged with Delivery Hero. That made him part of one of the most successful German start-up stories of all time: Delivery Hero is now a global, multi-billion-euro group that has left a lasting mark on the food delivery market.

At first glance, the fact that the same man now refines the garages of the world's most prestigious car collections looks like a remarkable career switch. After all, Fahrenholz was born without any of the usual door-openers into the collector car scene: no major collector in the family, no uncle with a renowned sports car workshop and no inherited network among the upper echelons of automotive connoisseurs. On closer inspection, however, the move makes perfect sense. What he lacked in "nepo baby" status, he made up for with an exceptional instinct for disruptive business ideas. He recognised that many collectors poured all their passion into the cars themselves, while behind the garage door there was often not much more than dreary, unremarkable surroundings lit by sparse halogen lamps. Engineering marvels and iconic automotive design frequently met bare concrete and a purely functional atmosphere lacking that certain something. Fahrengold set out to stage the automobile like a work of art in a museum, using its versatile range of products.

Bugatti already relies on quality from Berlin

What has become of this one-time outsider project from Berlin-Marzahn can be seen most impressively today, seven years after the company was founded, at the most important events in the collector car world. This was particularly evident in August 2026: during Monterey Car Week south of San Francisco, the undisputed highlight of the calendar for the global collector elite, Fahrengold had its own presence inside the exclusive Maison Bugatti. The Berlin company now serves as a Global Partner of the legendary hypercar marque from Alsace.

The true depth of this collaboration, however, lies in the details. This is by no means just a humdrum sponsorship logo, nor the occasional Veyron or Programme Solitaire one-off placed on the sleek, modern display platforms from Berlin. Fahrengold's products are now integrated directly into the official Bugatti configurator, which in this industry amounts to a knighthood. Anyone specifying a new multi-million Bugatti Tourbillon today can, if they wish, select the matching Fahrengold presentation solution as part of the buying process. A place in the ordering system of one of the world's most legendary car brands cannot be bought with any marketing budget. It has to be earned through an uncompromising focus on the highest quality and tasteful design.

Test-park your car in the virtual configurator

Even setting aside this extraordinary vote of confidence, the company's excellent reputation has long since spread further afield. Fahrengold is now present at the luxurious Wynn Las Vegas, a renowned resort and casino on the legendary Strip. RM Sotheby's, the world's leading auction house for collector cars, also uses Fahrengold CarPads at its star-studded sales to show off multi-million-dollar classics and modern icons at their best. Top-tier dealers in automotive treasures, such as Tom Hartley Jnr, are likewise increasingly relying on technology from East Berlin to show rare exotics in their showrooms in the perfect light. It is the fast-paced success story of a brand that started out without any relevant pedigree or prominent family backing and has firmly established itself as the standard for collectors, classic car specialists and manufacturers around the world.

If you would like to experience this elevated visual standard with your own car, there is no need to travel to California, Molsheim or Las Vegas. The virtual configurator at studio.fahrengold.com lets you visualise your own Fahrengold staging for your personal collection, with no obligation. All it takes is a single photo: within moments, your car appears as an AI rendering in side view, in or on the product of your choice. That makes it easy to pair the CarPads, CarStages and premium glazed garages, which are setting new benchmarks and which even Bugatti has built firmly into its ordering process, with your own four-wheeled treasure, whether at home or on the move. Because in the end, as true at the very beginning in Marzahn as it is today on the world stage, anyone who really loves cars doesn't just park them. They put them on show.
