RM Sotheby’s brings a global roster to California

More than just one of the biggest classic car events in America, Monterey Car Week is an international must-attend affair for the who’s who of the classic car world. To appeal to such a global crowd, RM Sotheby’s has brought in some of the most fascinating examples from around the world…

Even when you set aside the Italian stallion 1950 Ferrari 166 MM/212 Export “Uovo” and the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta from the Ferrari Performance Collection, as well as the brute British 1956 Aston Martin DBR1 from the Aston Martin Motorsport collection, there’s still a world of selection from RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale, taking place 18–19 August. A highlight is sure to be the Weissach wonder — the 1970 Porsche 908/03 that won 2nd overall in the 1970 Nürburgring 1000KM and has been restored back to the bright yellow livery from said race. And for the West Coast fanatics, the American Shelby Cobra may be one of the ultimate choices, especially this rare, highly original 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 “Lindauer Cobra” special, which is one of very few examples that hasn’t set a tyre on the track — apart from a few gymkhana runs — as is evidenced by its less than 15,500 original miles. You can find all of our top 10 picks from RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale below, or, alternatively, you can see the entire auction list in the Classic Driver Market.
