They don’t call Paris the City of Love for nothing…

It’s that time of year again, when the classic car world prepares to descend on the City of Light for the annual automotive extravaganza that is Rétromobile. RM Sotheby’s is returning to the Place Vauban on 8 February for its first European sale of the year. These are our 10 highlights…

It’s the 13 Porsches from RM’s recently consigned 42-car collection that will no doubt prove the biggest talking point at the Place Vauban on the evening of 8 February. But there are many other tantalising offerings on which we’d happily bid, such as the duo of Zagato-bodied modern Aston Martins — a single-owner 2003 DB7 (est. 350,000–450,000 euros) and a unique 2012 V12 Zagato (625,000–675,000 euros). Other lots that caught our eye include the wide-bodied 1983 Renault 5 Turbo with just 5,900 kilometres from new (75,000–95,000 euros), the beautifully restored 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal (80,000–100,000 euros), and the gorgeously weathered 1952 ‘Split Window’ Volkswagen Beetle (55,000–80,000 euros).
