One name is an open-wheeled symbol of carefree California dreaming, synonymous with the golden sands and crystal blue water of the West Coast. If California had an official “good times” car, it’d probably be the Meyers Manx. The other was born in a tranquil nook of Oxfordshire, amid thatched roofs and sleepy hedgerows, a name that quite literally everyone has talked about: Tuthill Porsche. From the spine-tingling 911K and last year’s Monterey Car Week showstopper – the GT1, this unlikely pair have joined forces to create one of the coolest creations we’ve seen all year.
Named the LFG and unveiled at the prestigious The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week, this limited-production off-road performance machine is set to redefine the spirit of recreational driving. Only 100 examples of the LFG will be built, each offering owners’ exclusive access to six years of meticulously planned driving adventures across the globe.
The journey will begin in 2027 for those lucky clients, who will experience this Martian mobile, where owners can enter the inaugural LFG Baja Tour, marking the 50th anniversary of Meyers Manx’s historic victory in the first Mexican 1000, now known as the Baja 1000. Merging cutting-edge engineering with a playful, adventurous spirit, the LFG totes a carbon fibre body and roll-over protectors, with the iconic rear-fitted engine a choice for the driver, including a 4-valve variant derived from Tuthill’s utterly bonkers “K”. This incredible, free-flowing engine, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox and 4WD with three-way limited-slip differentials makes just about any terrain a breeze for this hyperbuggy.
Speaking of terrain, the LFG smooths out even the harshest of bumps thanks to five-way adjustable dampers with hydraulic bump stops, matched with BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres designed for desert dunes and rugged mountain trails alike. Climb inside and you’ll be greeted by a bespoke, climate-controlled cabin that both Meyers Manx and Tuthill claim true comfort on long hauls, while its Inconel exhaust and integrated GPS lets drivers travel well beyond the beaten path. Celebrating that unrivalled California style, within moments the enclosed cockpit can transform into an open-air buggy, letting drivers and passengers fully embrace the elements, be it silky sand or the thickets of mud!
This is truly a pairing for the ages. Incredible technology and innovation from one of the world’s most loved rally specialists and Porsche wizards, working alongside a name so deeply engrained into Californian culture makes for a truly unique machine. Whether you’re itching to tear up the tarmac, or blast through uncharted territory, we hope you’re just as excited about this one as we are!
