Description

Original Men’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual Turn-O-Graph N°7206 Rivet Link Automatic Sweep Centre Seconds Red Depth Rating Stainless Steel Watch ref. 6202, made in 1953. The watch is in a fully working order and is in good vintage condition. \n\n\nIn 1953 Rolex launched the turn-o-graph. The Turn-O-Graph was the first series-produced by Rolex to feature a rotating bezel. It was intended as a more affordable chronograph wristwatch, the chronograph being the revolving bezel: by setting the zero mark at the minute hand’s position, one can subsequently read the elapsed minutes on the bezel. This was a very simple and ingenious solution, but competition from the Submariner and the advent of the GMT in 1954 – both models presenting a similar revolving bezel which could be used in the same way – decreed the quick demise of the turn-o-graph which, with a lifespan of about three year from 53 to 56, is among the shortest-lived product lines in the history of the company, and thus one of the scarcest and most collectible.\n\nEven though reference 6202 was in production for a short time, there are a number of different dial designs available. The present one, featuring the red depth rating at "6" o’ clock is indisputably among the rarest if not the only one in stock in the world. Furthermore, this watch features a completely original black matte dial signed "Rolex", "Oyster Perpetual", "50m=165ft" , "Turn-O-Graph", "Swiss". \n\nA beautiful revolved bidirectional bezel monted on the 36mm (1,41 inch) stainless steel case, excluding the crown and 44mm (1,73 inch) from lug to lug is in good vintage condition, with surface scratches that are to be expected on any watch of this age. The case as well presents interesting details, such as the perfectly preserved Brevet designation engraved between the lugs, and the matching brevet crown with the cross. The number 18 stamped under the lug and then again inside the back stems from a difficult import procedure into the United States which occurred for a short time around that period. In order to facilitate importation, this number was at the time engraved on the inside and outside of the watch, and it indicates the case maker for the piece, in this case Genex, Rolex case maker of choice at the time. Finally, a very faint digit “1” can be noticed just before the case number. It is supposed this detail, found on other cases from this period, is the result of a manufacturing mishap. \n\nThe winding crown is completely original and correctly signed with the famous “Rolex” logo together with Brevet designation with the cross.\n\n\nThe watch is presented on original Rolex "Oyster" riveted link bracelet ref. 7206 (end link N°58) around 19.5 cm (7,71 inch) including the watch case, with folding clasp signed "Rolex" with "Rolex" logo.\n\n\nThe riveted links are considerably slimmer but also much more fragile than the modern solid links.Nothing is left to chance, and for that reason each generation of Oyster bracelet came with a specific reference number, often found on the final link of the bracelet, indicating not only the generation that it belongs to but also the size of the end links that it takes.\n\nBrand : Rolex \nModel: Oyster Perpetual Turn-O-Graph Automatic Sweep Centre Seconds Red Depth Rating Stainless Steel\nReference: 6202\nYear: 1953\nCase No: 1’9XXXXX\nCase Material : Stainless Steel \nDiameter : 36 mm (1,41 inch) diameter excluding the crown \nMovement : 2 jewels Automatic winding movement\nDial : Original Black Matte Dial\nBracelet: Original Rolex "Oyster" riveted link bracelet ref. 7206 (end link N°58) around 19.5 cm (7,71 inch) including the watch case, with folding clasp signed "Rolex" with "Rolex" logo.\n\n* All our watches are 100% original; \n* No customs taxes for EU buyers; \n* 0% VAT for all buyers; \n* 24 - 48 hours insured shipping via DHL Express; \n* 14 days full refund policy. \n\nIt is a perfect addition to your watch collection. \nYou can also use these wonderful watches as a gift to your friends.
