Description

"When the Bentley Motor company ran into financial difficulties during the late 1920’s they were purchased by Rolls-Royce who created a new company, Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd. Under the stewardship of Rolls-Royce the new company launched the 3.5 litre Bentley model to instant success and universal praise. 1936 saw the introduction of the 4.25 litre model which replaced the 3.5 litre version. Both the chassis and power units for these models were popular bases for special models, giving potential buyers a great deal of choice in the look of their new car.
This 1951 Bentley Special was one of 31 built by Geoffrey Shrive on a Mk. VI R-Type and uses a 4.25 litre Bentley engine. It is listed on page 281 of the book ‘The Crewe Cars’. In 2014 the vendor commissioned a restoration of this Shrive special for a road trip from the U.K to Lake Como. The vendor describes this Bentley as having the combination of effortless power and style. This four door tourer was built in the style of an early W.O Bentley and presents well in green. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document, this MoT test exempt Bentley special is a magnificent vehicle to drive."
