Description
To be OFFERED AT AUCTION at Auctions America’s Fort Lauderdale event, April 1-3, 2016.
Estimate:
$120,000 - $140,000 US
A popular and stylish design in production form that was supposed to simulate the openness of a convertible; this example of the Chevrolet Bel Air "bubbletop" Sport Coupe has been modified in a low, eye-catching fashion and is equipped with many high-end components and styling enhancements to create this restomod version of a very popular Chevrolet model.
The Chevy was built by D & P Classics located in Huntington, California, based on an Art Morrison chassis. The low-slung machine is powered by a stout 638-hp ZR1 Corvette LS9 supercharged engine with a GM Performance 4L80 four-speed automatic transmission w with Lokar shifter. At the rear end is a nine-inch Ford unit with 3.70:1 gearing; additional mechanical features include four-way Ride Tech air ride suspension, Bilstein shocks, Wilwwod disc brakes at all four corners with four- and six-piston calipers, Ididit steering column, low profile tires and custom wheels. The interior is all custom and features a quilted-type of stitching detail pattern, bucket seats, center console and a music system. The trunk and undercarriage exhibit a very nice level of presentation and the engine bay is clean in appearance and execution.
