Coys Auction - Padova, Italy 25th Oct 2008 - Preview

Building on its storming success in Italy in 2007, Coys hopes the 113-car entry for this year’s Padova sale will achieve similar results.

With entries such as an ex-Sir Malcolm Campbell 1926 Bugatti Type 35A, and a varied catalogue of predominantly Italian collectors’ cars, despite the current economic climate it looks like being another successful sale.

Before we look at some of the post-War cars, in addition to the Bugatti there’s also a 1932 Invicta ‘S-Type’ Special Open Tourer for EUR 250,000 - 300,000 and a 1929 Isotta-Fraschini 8A Landaulet Imperiale di Castagna that, like the Type 35A, you will have to ‘Refer Dept.’ for price.

1963 Maserati 3500 GTI Coupé, ex-Roberto Orsi - EUR 55,000 - 65,000

1983 Lancia 037 Rally - EUR 230,000 - 270,000

It’s the cars from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s that will interest historic racing enthusiasts and those wishing to indulge in some road events or tours. The 1950 Maserati A6 1500 Coupe (EUR 110,000 - 130,000) comes from a ‘Prestigious Private Collection’, while the 1983 Lancia 037 Rally (EUR 230,000 - 270,000) is a former Italian Gp. B National Rally Championship-winning car.

And for that essential support car, why not look at the 1965 Fiat Multipla Abarth (EUR 23,000 - 28,000), a superb Servizio Corse clone complete with four racing bucket seats. Park that up next to the 1964 OSCA 1600 GT Zagato, estimated at EUR 125,000 - 145,000, and you’ll have the perfect combination for next year’s Tour Auto.

Of the eight Ferraris in the sale, the 1963 250 GT Lusso (Refer Dept.) looks nice in silver grey and EUR 28,000 - 33,000 will buy you an elegant bronze 1973 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2. I’ve always liked those...

1967 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato - EUR 110,000 - 140,000

1950 Maserati A6 1500 Coupe - EUR 110,000 - 130,000

Lancia is well represented with the aforementioned 037 and what’s becoming quite a sought-after little coupé, the 1973 Fulvia HF 1.6 Zagato EUR 20,000 - 25,000 for EUR 20,000 - 24,000, as well as a ‘double bubble’ 1967 Flaminia Super Sport Zagato at EUR 110,000 - 140,000.

On the Lamborghini front, there’s an S-spec Miura P 400 and a 1966 400 GT (EUR 140,000 - 180,000), in addition to the rare 1969 Islero S, estimated at EUR 70,000 - 85,000.

1963 Maserati 3500 GTI Spyder Series I EUR 120,000 - 150,000

1968 McLaren M6B-Chevrolet- EUR 320,000 - 380,000

There are Fiats, Alfa Romeos and more Maseratis, too - and don’t forget the Porsches, Mercedes and even several Citroëns, including the desirable 1967 DS 21 Décapotable by Chapron, estimated at EUR 85,000 - 110,000.

In addition to the motor cars, the sale features a selection of automobilia and several motorcycles, including a 1965 BMW R60/2 and Sidecar for EUR 14,000 - 17,000. Fly there with your other half, successfully bid for it and then ride it home.

That’s the way to do it.
