Description
"The Manta A was released in September 1970, a competitor to the Ford Capri, featuring two-door coupé styling and distinctive round taillights. It took its name, and a few minor styling cues, from the Manta Ray concept car of 1961 which also famously influenced the 1968 Chevrolet Corvette C3. In the UK, the first Manta was sold only as an Opel and was normally equipped with a 1.6 or a 1.9-litre CIH engine. In the United States, only the larger, 1.9-litre, engine option was offered. The Manta came with either a four-speed manual or a three-speed TH-180 automatic transmission and came to be known as one of the best-handling cars in its class, going on to win many rallying events in both Europe and America.
Registered new on 15th May 1973 this very well presented example is fitted with the desirable 1.9 litre engine and was in private ownership for much of its life before our vendor acquired the car. Treated to an extensive respray since his purchase the Opel looks very well indeed. This right hand drive Manta has been dry stored and maintained where necessary and the paintwork, engine bay and interior are all in very good order showing little sign of age and it is reported to run and drive as it should. Showing 27,500 miles on the odometer this Manta A comes complete with a history file including various sundry bills, old MoT records and the current UK registration document. An opportunity not to be missed. Consigned by Daniel Godin
