"The TR6 was introduced in 1968 and was the bestseller of the TR range when production ended in July 1976. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5. The design house, Karmann Consultants, squared off the front and back ends to give the TR6 its sharpened look. Fitted with a 2.5 litre, in-line, six-cylinder engine, the TR6 could reach 60mph in just over 8.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 120mph. It featured a four-speed manual transmission with an optional overdrive unit and semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension, 15 wheels and tyres, bucket seats and a full complement of instrumentation.
First registered on 14th March 1973, this original right hand drive, UK supplied example is presented in Pimento Red over a black interior and is fitted with Minilite style wheels. Acquired by the current vendor in January 2007, this TR6 was used occasionally before being treated to renovation work in 2012. The work included the removal of the engine and gearbox and fitting a new clutch and ring gear. A Triumph 2,500cc engine was sourced and fitted which benefits from carburettors as opposed to the original fuel injection system. A new and extensively improved wiring harness, new fuses and relays, and a transistorised ignition was also fitted with an accurate wiring diagram which is included in the history file. More recently, this TR has been fitted with an electric fan and Mazda MX5 seats which make for a much more user-friendly experience. The vendor reports that the TR runs and drives very well indeed using it regularly in the summer months. This Triumph comes with a sizeable history file which includes various sundry invoices, bills for maintenance work, old MoT test records and the V5C registration document. This example offers huge amounts of car for the money and can be enjoyed immediately.
