Description
The Alpine Eagle was a sporting version of the Silver Ghost, so named because the Rolls-Royce team swept the board in the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. One of the most severe tests for motorcars before World War I was the Austrian Alpine Trials. The steep grades of the mountain passes took their toll on both cars and drivers. After failing in the Austrian Alpine Trial in 1912, Rolls-Royce modified the Silver Ghost and successfully re-entered the Trial in 1913. This particular piece is an older restoration with unique features including snakehead horn, and collectible 50CAL machine gun with mount in the vehicle. Selling at Public Auction on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Henderson Motor Series Auction will take place at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, AL. www.hendersonmotorseries.com for details!
