Hill's final Targa Florio was cut short by a tire puncture on the high-winged Chaparral 2F he shared with Hap Sharpe. Notoriously treacherous at the best of times, the Chaparral had proven too heavy to compete with Ferrari and Porsche on the twisting Sicilian roads.
