The Porsche 991 is the internal designation for the seventh generation of the Porsche 911 sports car, which was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show as the replacement for the 997. The 991 is an entirely new platform, only the third since the original 911 launched in 1963. For the 991 generation, Porsche lengthened the standard 911 2.2 inches and grew the wheelbase by 3.9 inches. It is also the first 911 to be made mostly of aluminium. The 991 received a mid-cycle facelift in 2017 which Porsche referred to as 991.2. Styling updates included a new front and rear bumper, duel exhaust pipes and new headlamps and tail lights. The most significant upgrade however was an all-new, 3.0 litre twin turbo 6-cylinder engine, boasting 364bhp which propelled the car form 0-62mph in just 4.3 seconds and onto a top speed of 180mph.
