The History

Signed by “Carrozzeria Touring” in Milan, the Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider was presented during the Turin Motor Show in 1957, arousing much curiosity among visitors as it was destined for a restricted market, such as that of the spiders. The power of the engine, powered by two horizontal double-barrel carburettors that was capable of 115 horsepower and a top speed of 171 kph, gave the driving burning accelerations to the satisfaction of its lucky owners. A magnificent car, the Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Touring, yet so little loved by both the parent company and the amateur market that they preferred the Giulietta, the more wriggling younger sister. But a few years ago, also thanks to some auction results overseas, the exchange value of the 2000 Spider pulverized that of the Giulietta, settling well over one hundred thousand euros and thus completing a long-awaited "revenge". Today it is time to collectively re-evaluate this heir to the "Alfona" (big Alfa in italian) with its American-like line, snubbed by many and only sold in 3,459 units, until in 1962, Alfa Romeo decided to close its production.
