The 1976 World Champion, James Hunt, was born on August 29, 1947. Motor racing was at the centre of his world, but it was by no means his whole world, as James believed in living life to the full. Hunt split opinion in much the same way as Lewis Hamilton does today, for what he said and how he dressed, among other factors. The ‘playboy’ tag meant that he was not always taken seriously as a racer, but earning the friendship and respect of his rival Niki Lauda serves as motor racing’s stamp of approval of the highest order.
