The name XJ is derived from the full name of the car: Experimental Jaguar. The E-type rear suspension was used for the XJ, which resulted in only few vibrations and comfortable driving characteristics.

The XJ was delivered as an XJ6 with a 2.8 litre or 4.2 litre six cylinder in-line engine and as an XJ12 with a 5.3 litre V12 engine.

This XJ is equipped with the 4.2 six cylinder in-line engine connected to a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

In 1973, the car was delivered new by the then Jaguar dealer in Nice to a wealthy English family (Bego Family) who owned a holiday home in Nice. The car was delivered in the current colour Lavender Blue with a dark blue leather interior and walnut dashboard. The XJ can be described as a car produced for the French market by the yellow headlights. After having been in the possession of the first owner for 35 years, due to his death, the car was sold to a Frenchman who has restored the car both in terms of bodywork and technology.

In 2014, the XJ was sold to the current seller with a mileage of 94,000 km. Ever since, more than €10,000.00 has been invested in the car, so that the car is presently in a perfect condition. The engine runs extremely smooth, the manual gearbox works accurately and the overdrive means that the engine runs at low revs. The car accelerates quickly and has a high cruising speed. The car has never been used during winters, which explains the perfect chassis without any rust. The XJ comes with the official Jaguar Heritage Certificate that was issued on 19 September 2014.

The car can be viewed in Hilversum, the Netherlands.
